With just 29% of A-roads in the UK
meeting recognised standards for visibility
Isn't it time to enhance safety by installing SolarLite Road Studs?
On 15th March 2011, a shocking survey investigating the quality of road safety marketing on Britain’s roads was published by the Road Safety Markings Association.
The survey, which assessed more than 1,500 miles of the road network has revealed that almost a third of the length of Britain’s single carriageway A-roads have white lines so worn out that they do not meet recognised standards.
Even more worrying perhaps, is that Britain’s most dangerous roads have the most worn out centre-line markings.
Of the 470 miles of A-roads and motorways surveyed, one in five falls below the minimum specifiable standard while 8% have centre line markings that are barely visible.
George Lee, National Director of RSMA commented: “These motorways and strategic A-roads are managed by the Highways Agency, which has clearly specified standards for the quality of road markings. Road markings provide the best, most simple navigation aid to drivers, who must be able to ‘read’ the road at every turn.”
Of course, the problem could be resolved with a lick of good old fashioned paint – but what happens when that deteriorates? The vicious cycle of danger and potential fatalities starts all over again.
So how about installing Astucia SolarLite Solar Powered Road Studs to not only support the delineation but enhance it so that the road ahead is clearer and more defined for all drivers?
Astucia Solarlite Solar Powered Road Studs are ultra efficient - not only in the day but also after dark and in the rain. The studs increase visibility beyond the headlight beam of a vehicle too – 10 times further than either conventional white lining or retro-reflective cats eyes.
Astucia SolarLite studs are also durable, smart, safe and sustainable.
And with alarming figures such as only 29% of A-roads in the UK meeting recognised standards for visibility, the potential dangers have already been highlighted - now we just need the roads to be too.
