Winchelsea Road safety pilot program is Australian first
When it comes to making the road safer for small children, the pedestrian crossing supervisors at the Winchelsea Primary School have a huge advantage.
First thing in the morning and again at the end of the school day, they turn on a pilot program that literally lights up the road and alerts oncoming drivers for hundreds of metres that they are approaching a pedestrian crossing.
Whinchelsea is a small country town in the state of Victoria. It lies on one of the state’s busiest east-west arterials.
